Cupcake

Hello again crafters!

I have been trying to make a birthday card for my mother-in-law's birthday which is today.  I took so long over it though that my husband went out and bought her a card so this will go to someone else instead later in the year!
I had an image in my head of how I wanted this to look and it's not quite turned out how I pictured it. I think I should have made the squares with the papers on a bit bigger or more rectangular.  I am still quite new at all this so I am learning all the time!

This is another Hobbycraft mini kit of a cupcake. I used some pink foil card to frame my layers.  The papers are all from my Create and Craft paper book.  I added some paper flowers with gems, the sentiment is also from the Create and Craft paper book.

Scandi Style Christmas

Hello Crafters!

It is half term and I have a week off work, I am hoping to get some crafting done.  It may not all be cards though.  I am stitching a 30cm x 30cm Gold Collection kit called Winter Reindeer that I am determined to get finished before Christmas this year!  In the meantime here is a smaller cross stitch kit that I have made.

This is a Hobbycraft mini kit of a scandi style bird decoration.  I started with some red glitter card then used some paper from Dovecraft Back to Basics Traditional paper pack.
I used a tag die cut and used an Inkylicious stamp with silver ink and some bakers twine for the bow. I added a couple of buttons as well.

Happy New Year

Chinese New Year that is!

I love all things oriental as I was lucky enough to live in Hong Kong as a teenager.  Chinese New Year is nearly upon us, this year is the year of the sheep.  I don't have a sheep for you but I do have a Mouseloft mini kit of a fan that I have stitched.

I used a Hunkydory A4 card from their Eastern Promise topper kit and folded it in half.  The sentiment is from the same kit. I put the cross stitch on a piece of blue metallic paper and gold card and added gems to the corners.

A couple of blue feathers underneath and some blue paper flowers with gems finish the card.

So kung hei fat choi (or happy new year) to you all, I will be off to enjoy a very nice chinese meal with traditional lion dance at the Beijing Palace restaurant - yum!

Purple Hearts

Good morning Crafters!

I am thrilled to say that my thank you card has won 2 prizes so far, this is my first success and I am so pleased to have some wins under my belt!

I have made another love themed card today.

This is a Hobbycraft mini kit with heart shaped balloons.  I have used some plain purple paper and a patterned paper from my Create and Craft Club pack and some gingham ribbon.  I have also used my quilling kit to make some heart shapes for the corners. They were very fiddly as I am out of practice with quilling.  I may have to make some more quilled shapes as flourishes for future projects.

At the Allotment

Good morning Crafters!

We have finally had a smattering of snow so my son was happy as it was just enough for a snowball.  It only lasted the morning and now we're back to it just being cold!

It's my husband's birthday in April and no doubt we will be busy at our allotment at that time of year.  We were allocated an allotment last year after a 6 year wait, all we've managed to do so far is clear the weeds and plant some fruit bushes and an apple tree.  Once it gets a bit warmer we'll be putting in a new shed and plenty of veg.  With all this in mind when I saw this mini cross stitch kit in Hobbycraft I knew it would be perfect for his birthday!

I used a pale green paper for the background and framed the picture in an aperture card from my stash with a woody pattern.  I stamped a sentiment on a pale green circle.  I had a flower pot die cut in my stash and added some paper flowers wih gems in the same colours as the pot in the picture.

A butterfly sticker and some green gems complete the card.  I may stitch this picture again for my father-in-law for fathers day as he is a keen gardener too.
