Christmas at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Christmas/Winter

I've made this 3D aperture card using a kit that I picked up at he craft show at the NEC a couple of years ago.  I think it's quite effective and the best bit is that I have lots of elements left over to add to other projects!

It hardly seems possible that we're getting ready for Christmas again, let's hope that we can celebrate properly this year.

Autumn and/or Halloween

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Autumn and/or Halloween

This design is called Haunted House by Jodyri.  One of my stitching group friends did this on some pink fabric and I loved it so had to stitch it myself.  I've used dark blue though as I thought it was more spooky!

I've used DMC glow in the dark thread for the ghosts but I couldn't get a decent photo so you'll just have to trust me!

Added Sparkle at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Add Sparkle

Here's a quick card I've made using glitter washi tape from my stash in shades of pink and silver.  I got the inspiration from Pinterest.  I neeed something quick and easy this month as we've been decorating and today was the first day I've been able to get at my stash beacuse of stuff everywhere!  I'm quite pleased with the effect though.

Anything Goes at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Anything goes.

I stitched this little beer motif from a design library in World of Cross Stitching magazine.

This is a birthday card for my Dad who likes a pint. I only had this one sheet of the tie paper in my stash but I think the colours go quite well together.  It's so hard to find patterned papers that work well for men!

Summer Time at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Summer time

Here's a card for my Dad for Father's day.  He likes gardening and what could be more summery than sitting in a lovely garden in the sunshine?

I've picked some nice flowery paper from my stash for thebackground and bright yellow card.

For a Baby or Child at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is For a Baby orChild

This chart was a free cover kit from World of Cross Stitching magazine but I've not used the aperture card that came with it and have used card, paper and embellishments from my stash.  I'm going to give it to my friend whose baby is due this month.  Let's hope her scans are correct and she is having a boy!

Shaped Cards at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Shaped Cards.

This kit is from The Nutmeg Company and I bought it at the NEC a couple of years ago, being super organised for my parents' golden wedding anniversary.  It's quite fiddly to cut the shape out but I love the finished effect.

It's also full of gold metallic thread which is my least favourite thing to stitch with but you can't have a golden wedding card without gold!

Include an Animal at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Include an animal.

We got 2 kittens last year and I couldn't agree more with the sentiment in this picture! Cats are my favourite though, even if they do wake you up and destroy your furniture!

I Found this image in my stash, it's by Hunkydory.  The little felt stars were a bargain in Sainsbury's after Christmas.

Make it Feminine at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Make it Feminine

I'm getting ready for Mother's day and have made two cards, one for my Mum and one for my Mother-in-Law.  I think I prefer the one with the green card background but unfortunately I only had enough to do one background so had to use cream for the other.

I got the idea for the layout from Pinterest.  There are so many lovely cards on there that I would like to try but I'm struggling to get into my craft room these days as it's become the home school room since Christmas!

Use Flowers at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Use Flowers.

This chart is from Ultimate Cross Stitch Flowers magazine.  It has soooo many french knots and beads and that border is all metallic thread - all my least favourite things!  But it looks very pretty and was worth it for my Mum's 70th.

It's really hard to be apart from everyone at the  moment, especially when there are milestone events that won't come round again.  I got to leave this on Mum's doorstep and wave at her through the window, not quite the celebration we wanted but if it keeps us all safe then that's what we have to do.

Clean and Simple at Unicorn

Good morning everyone, it's time for a new monthly challnge at Unicorn.  Our theme this time is Clean and Simple

I absolutely love CAS cards but struggle to design them myself so I had a look at Pinterest for some inspiration.

I used three snowflake dies and some silver card from my stash and stamped a sentiment in the corner.  I'm quite pleased with the result and it was quick to do.  I might try some more with different coloured card underneath.
