Mythical Creatures at Craft Rocket

It's challenge time again at Craft Rocket and our theme this fortnight is Mythical Creatures.

I have made a birthday card for a friend with a Unicorn on it.

The chart is from Ultimate Cross Stitch Fantasy magazine and is stitched on sparkly 14 count aida 2 over 1 using the recommended DMC threads.  I used pink mirror card and paper from Docraft papermania.  I used a doily and some die cuts with pearls to finish off.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

WIPocalypse March

Hello everyone, it's time to link up for Wipocalypse for March.  I'm a bit early but as I've got a 12 hour shift at work tomorrow and I haven't posted any progress from IHSW I thought I'd just do it all now.

This is hosted by Melissa of Measi's Musings. I've been working on Treasure Hunt Bookshelf again this month.  Here's where I started on Friday

And here's where I am now

I've finished 6 pages in total. I'm continuing across the top next which has a lot of blocks of the same colour so I'm hoping to make some quicker progress.  I've not been meeting my 500 stitches a day target in the last couple of weeks.

Our question this month is: Do you use hoops, stretcher bars, lap stands or Q snap frames and why? (viaCathieJ)

I used to use a hoop when I first started out but found that they marked the fabric and were difficult to move.  I then moved on to using an Able Stretcher frame which is great when you can get the whole piece of fabric into it.  I discovered Q snaps fairly recently when my Mum bought me 2 different sized ones she found in a charity shop.  I've since found a 3rd in a charity shop (for £2.50!).  I think these are fantastic, so quick and easy.  I've been using felt to protect my stitches and trying to remember to take it off the frame when I'm not working on it.  I've never tried a frame on a stand.  I like to sit back and lounge while I'm stitching, I don't think I'd find it comfortable.

Thanks for visiting and I look forward to catching up with everyone's progress soon!

Gifted Gorgeousness March

Good morning everyone, I thought I'd join in with Gifted Gorgeousness this month although I am a little late!  This is hosted by Jo at Serendipitous Stitching and is an opportunity to show our stitching that has been gifted to us or is a gift for someone else.

This is going to be a gift for my husband.  It's a 3D greeting card that will be for his birthday next month.  It's by The Nutmeg Company and I bought the kit at the NEC in November.  I kept thinking I had another 3 weeks to get this done but then I remembered the Easter holidays start next week and as he's a teacher he'll be home and will see it!  This is where I was on Wednesday.

And here it is finished as of today.  I've got some more of these 3D card kits to make for Christmas. I may not get to them this year, I'm still finding it difficult to put down Treasure Hunt Bookshelf.  I'll update my progress on that after International Hermit and Stitch Weekend.

Thanks for visiting, look forward to seeing everyone's progress after IHSW.

Anything Goes at Craft Rocket

Good morning crafters, it's challenge time at Craft Rocket, this fortnight our theme is a nice, easy one - Anything Goes!

I've made an Easter card for this challenge.  I've used a mini kit from Hobbycraft of a sweet little chick, stitched 2 over 1 using the threads and aida from the kit.

The yellow card and sentiment are from my stash.  I've used glittery background papers from my Blank Canvas paper pack.  The die cut flourishes are by Crafter's Companion.  The flowers and pearls are also from my stash.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Thanks for visiting, you have until 29th March to link up your makes!

Feathers or Fur at Craft Rocket

Good morning everyone, it's challenge time again at Craft Rocket.  Our theme this fortnight is Feathers and/or Fur.

I've made a Christmas card using this cute image from QKR Stampede called Christmas Lights Kitty.  I've coloured him using Promarkers with a little bit of Angel Whispers glitter on the lights.

I've used a 7x7 scalloped card blank with background papers from Lili of the Valley, a couple of sparkly pegs and some ribbon from my stash.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Clean and Simple at Unicorn in March

Hello crafters, it's challenge time at Unciorn, this month our theme is Clean and Simple and we are being sponsored by Morgan's Artworld.

I have been given a beautiful image called ballerina 2.  I've coloured her with promarkers and cut her out with an oval die.  I've added same faux stitching round the edge and layered her on some pale purple card from my stash.

Considering how little there is on the card I really struggled to get this looking how I wanted it to!
