IHSW June

Hello again!  It was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend last week.  I am a bit late posting, I've had such a busy week so far I've only just managed to get to the computer!

At the weekend I worked on Bamboo Fan, here's where I started

And here's where I finished

Not as much progress as I hoped but I didn't get any stitching done at all on the Saturday and there is a lot of confetti.

Remember we have a few more days left on our GD call at Unicorn so do come over and link up your blog for a chance to be our guest designer in October.

Father's Day

Hello everyone!

Father's Day is fast approaching, here is the first of 2 cards I have made for my son to give to his Grandads.  I'm going to let him choose who gets which one.

This was a pattern in Cross Stitch Collection magazine, I have stitched it 2 over 2 on 28 count cream evenweave using the recommended DMC threads.  The wooden paper was a free download from the magazine's website.  I used a piece of brown card for the bottom layer.

Don't forget over at Unicorn Challenge we have a GD call out this month.  Come over and link up you blog for a chance to be our guest designer in our October challenge!

It's Been A While!

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I blogged anything, I didn't realise it had been quite so long!  I had a week off work in May and was busy stitching lots of small pictures ready to make up.  I'm not quite there yet so can't show you the finished articles.  Didn't do much in half term as we were away camping for some of it.  We got a bit damp but had a great time.

Here are 2 images that I've stitched for Father's Day, they're not made up yet but will be very soon!

They'll need a good press first - a job for tomorrow!  One will be for my Dad and one for my Father-in-Law from my son, I'll let him choose who gets what.

I have also started Bamboo Fan.

Here it is on my Q-snap frame with new grime guard.  I got the grime guard from e-bay and I'm chuffed to bits with it.  I am not loving Bamboo Fan though, the chart is not very clear and I'm having trouble making out some of the symbols.  It's a black and white chart and some of the symbols are very similar.  I can tell I'm going to have a nightmare sorting out which backstitch colour is which when I get to that point.  Still, once it's done I can start my HAED - I have bought my magic guide evenweave in readiness!!

Don't forget for the cardmakers among you, we have a GD call out over at Unicorn Challenge, please come over and link up before the end of the month to be in with a chance to be a GD for the October challenge!

Black and White Cat

Hello everyone! I'm thrilled to announce I'm part of a DT on a new challenge blog called Unicorn that launches on 1st September. We're a monthly challenge for all crafters. We will be having a GD call out for the whole of June so please come on over to Unicorn, grab our badge and become a follower to be kept up to date. You can also see what the rest of the very talented  DT have been making.  The DT have been asked to introduce themselves and their work so I've made a card to show the sort of cards I like to make.

http://unicornchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/

Here's a card I've made for my Nan's birthday.  She'll be 93 this year, still lives in her own home and is sharp as a tack.  I don't get to see her often as she doesn't live locally unfortunately.  She used to have a black and white cat so when I saw this kit I thought of her straight away.  Isn't he cute with his little bow and butterfly!

I've used some pale blue card and flowery papers from my Docraft Capsule Collection pack and some sticky flower gems.  I coloured a peel off sentiment with a pro marker.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Button Tree

Hello everyone, I'm trying something new today - Clean and Simple.

This isn't a technique I've had a lot of practice with   I've made a Christmas card using buttons and ribbon.

I made a tree shape from various sizes of green buttons and finished with a ribbon with a sentiment printed on it. I drew a trunk with a promarker. I'm quite pleased with the result.

Winter Reindeer - Finished!

Hello everyone, exciting news - I have finished my reindeer!

It has taken me a year to do, but I didn't really touch it between September and December as I was making Christmas cards.  I am going to make it into a cushion evetually.  Might need my Mother-in-Law's help with that as I'm not sure how to go about it.

Now on to the next project - Bamboo Fan.  I have already sorted my threads and copied the chart so I can mark it off as I go.  I might make a start tonight.  The sooner I get it done the sooner I can start Treasure Hunt Bookshelf.  I have ordered my material for that already!

I do have another project to complete before July, I am making a small wedding sampler for my Husband's cousin to give as a gift at a wedding she is going to.  I'm waiting for the fabric to arrive for that and I need to modify the chart I'm using.

Thanks for visiting and see you all soon!
