Good morning everyone, I am late again with IHSW and Gifted Gorgeousness. My husband has updated the computer and now nothing works properly so I couldn't get on to the internet yesterday. Isn't technology great!
I have 2 updates, first is IHSW part one. Here's Treasure Hunt Bookshelf when you last saw it:
The top row is complete and I've moved back to the second row. I nearly have a page finish but got distracted at the weekend by a new project. I think I will finish the page today. Here's where I was on Monday:
And here's my Gifted Gorgeousness. I was watching the craft channel on Saturday, there was a company on called Bobo Stitch. They had kits for jute shopping bags where a design was stitched directly onto the bag. I thought they look great and I happen to have 4 jute shopping bags in my stash. I bought them at the NEC 2 years ago from Pinflair intending to do something else with them but hadn't got round to it. So I thought I'd see what charts I have in my stash and get stitching. I found a great chart in the second volume of Ultimate Cross Stitch Cards magazine which I bought a few weeks ago. It took me all day on Sunday but here's what I've made:
It's a flowery sheep! There is also a chart for a pig, rooster and dog so I might do all of them. This will be a Christmas present for someone, probably my Mum. I showed the picture to a friend yesterday and she asked if I would do the dog one for her. She's not well at the moment and has a big birthday coming up in July so I would like to get it done for her in time for that. I stitched this 4 over 1 but might try 3 over 1 for the next one.
Thanks for visiting, I will update again next week for the second part of IHSW. I have a week off work next week so am looking forward to lots of crafting and stitching.
Thanks for taking part in GG this month. The bag looks great. How did you find the jute for stitching on? It's quite rough on the hands!
ReplyDeleteIt is rough and one of my fingers is a bit sore where it kept rubbing on the inside of the bag. I'm going to have to wait a while before I start the next one!
ReplyDeleteLove the way your shopping bag turned out! The floral sheep is cute and colourful and looks very "country chic" with the jute :) Good progress on your bookshelf too!
ReplyDeleteP.S. If you find the jute rough, maybe putting preventative band-aids on the fingers that are in contact with it to add some padding before you start stitching will help reduce the soreness?
ReplyDeleteI definitely think that's a good idea!
DeleteCute idea I love it!
ReplyDeleteBetter late then never, love that sheep on the bag so sweet, great stitching projects.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
